You guys. How much do you love the new look of the blog?! Some serious time and effort was put into making it look amazing around here by a friend of mine who swooped in and saved the day! I’m not even going to act for a second like I understand coding and wordpress layouts and all that jazz. I’m so grateful to have found someone who listened and really brought this site to life! My goal is to be a much better blogger, and having an amazing website sure does give me a little more motivation π
Things around the Madison home have been insanely busy the past few months. Ever since I’ve decided to really try to pursue this interior decorating hobby of mine, I’ve been continuously overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received from friends and family…but especially total strangers. My Instagram has grown leaps and bounds and I’ve learned so much from people I really look up to. Grateful doesn’t begin to describe how I’ve felt the past few months. It’s come a LONG way around here.
When we lived in our last house, we definitely put a lot of work into it, but looking back now, I know I didn’t really ever feel like it was “home”. I did minimal decorating and really, it was more of a learning experience than anything. It was the first home my husband and I had ever bought, it was foreclosed and needed SO MUCH TLC. I don’t think it ever really inspired me be creative.
We moved into our current home and that all changed. I walked inside our front door for the first time and had a million ideas of how to make it better. And that’s what we’ve been doing ever since we signed on the dotted line for this 1970’s outdated tri-level. I’m always so grateful that we moved here and that it lit a fire inside of me that I didn’t have before.
I’ve had some pretty cool experiences in the last few months. And some more in store coming up soon. I’ve been nervous to share some of the stuff because I really can get into my head about it all. I still want to pinch myself when people want me to come into their homes and help them. I absolutely love getting to be creative and seeing different spaces and working with people on new plans. I’ve had so many people reach out asking about the business and it gives me hope that maybe some day soon, this could be a full time gig that I love. It’s been an interesting journey ever since I decided to actually make a business card and really try to go for it. I have endless messages everyday from people asking for my advice, people who actually almost harass me about working for them and then never contact me again, people who want me to work for free, people who have supported me from moment one and then people who never hit the like button on any of the things I post. Making your life public for everyone to pass judgement on is one of the most nervewracking things I’ve ever done. But it sure is an eye opening experience. I’ve worried myself to death sometimes when I post the same picture to my facebook feed full of my friends and family and it doesn’t get much of a reaction but the same picture on Instagram with strangers gets 450 people liking and wanting more. I worry that my circle of people close to me thinks my posts are annoying…but I’m slowly beginning to care less about that and more about how my dreams are important and if I don’t really try to put myself out there for this, I’ll never succeed. I also feel the need to prove to myself that if I step outside of my comfort zone a little bit, amazing things can start to happen.
So, cheers to new beginnings and chasing our dreams!! I’m so excited for what’s ahead and I hope you are too! I’m hoping to be a better blogger and will try my best to keep my camera right by my side for all the new things we will be tackling around here….and elsewhere π Stick around for some fun news in the next few weeks…and if you don’t already, pop on over to Instagram where I consistently post pictures and updates and even some really fun giveaways!!
It would be fun to kick off the new blog with a small giveaway anyway, right? Iβm keeping with the whole theme of learning more about myself through this whole process, I got my hands on two of these amazing Rae Dunn mugs…and one of them could be yours! Head over to Instagram or Facebook through the links above to see how to get your chance.
I’m so, so thankful you are here!! π
xoxo,
