The first time we came to look at this house 3 years ago, one of the things I made a mental note to change first was our Master Bedroom. It’s a good sized Master…but WOW! The previous owners had painted the main wall a VERY bright red color and it made the room look so much smaller than it actually is. I knew it had to go. Even a coat of primer would’ve made me a happy girl.
Here is the picture I took that day….
So much red going on. If you’ll learn one thing about me from reading this blog, it’s that red isn’t my most favorite color 🙂 And it.was.everywhere. in this room!
With the urgency to no longer see red, I painted all of the walls Cityscape by Sherwin Williams, decorated and called it a day for a few years….Until these past few weeks when I finally had a clearer vision of what I wanted to see happen in our room. Here is a photo of how it looked before this past week….clutter and all 🙂
Ready for the after??? 🙂
Seriously….my heart skips beats when I open the door to this room now. It’s exactly what I saw in my head. And yes, I adore Joanna Gaines…but we’ve loved “shiplapped” walls since before she came into my life and practically MADE me fall in love with her. We actually have some of our kitchen shiplapped and I love it in there as well.
We put up the shiplap on the main wall that was once that BRIGHT RED color…and look how much larger the room looks now! Isn’t it crazy what some pieces of plywood and a good white paint can do for a space? The other walls got a good coat of Mindful Gray by Sherwin Williams.
That wall wasn’t the only area of our room to get some shiplap lovin’ though….we also put it up somewhere where it wouldn’t really be expected…and that was on our bifold closet doors!!! Since day 1 of living here, I’ve hated our closet doors…but it can be pretty costly to replace doors…and if I’m being honest…I don’t love ANY of the doors in this house. (This is where I have to practice patience….maybe) So, we found a way to turn those bifold doors into amazing shiplap doors that I can’t stop staring at from the moment my eyes open in the morning.
Seriously…can you guys stop staring? I can’t. Literally, I don’t know how I can keep typing.
While I get my mind back together, here are some other shots of the room 🙂
So far…I’m completely in love 🙂 There are a few minor details to finish and things I’d like to replace (cough dresser, flooring cough) but for now, it puts a big smile on my face. Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Facebook to see the things we add in here!
